late july garden 2010

I like this combination...now to keep it alive in the heat

passion-flower

another favorite combination...it's bloomed steadily for 2 months and loves the heat instead of wilting

So so pretty! Oma would approve.

I want a passion flower plant thingy now too. Where does one acquire these? Grow from seed? Buy plant?

I KNOW! The passion flower vine is very unique. I got it at Devan Nursery as a starter plant in the annual section I think, with the sweet potato vine starts and basket fillers. It was only supposed to last one season, but it's in a sheltered area and it came back with a vengeance this year. It is so bushy and covered with blooms. On the downside I think it's killed the clematis that was growing along with it.

I like to think that I am carrying on Oma's love of the garden in a way...passed down generation to generation I guess. That is very meaningful to me.

Things are growing; sprouting, flourishing, blossoming, withering, beginning and ending... it's the story of a garden.
